Accessibility Statement
Marine is intended to be usable with a keyboard, screen reader, magnification, touch input, reduced motion, and a wide range of screen sizes. The target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Design commitments
- Semantic headings, landmarks, labels, and table structure
- Visible keyboard focus and logical focus order
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and icons
- Sufficient colour contrast and information that does not rely on colour alone
- Responsive layouts that support zoom and reflow
- Reduced-motion support
- Accessible validation and status messages
- List and tabular alternatives for essential map information
Known challenges
Interactive maps, dense weather charts, track visualizations, and third-party widgets can create accessibility barriers. Marine must provide an equivalent textual or tabular route to operational information and must not make a map the only way to complete a critical task.
Feedback
If a feature prevents access, report the page, task, assistive technology and browser if comfortable doing so, and the format or accommodation that would help. Accessibility feedback is treated as product work, not as a reason to exclude a user.
